Q&A with the face of The Fertility Show, Sophie Sulehria

July 2023

I’m Sophie from The Fertility Show, and I am so grateful to have you join us as we wrap after a pretty exhausting year so far.  As you know we held our LIVE Fertility Show in May, and we’re all still coming down from it.

What an event!  We were so glad so many of you could make it.  Which is why we are delighted to say we will be back at the same venue next May 2024, and we are already working on it being the best show ever - stay tuned.

OUR LET’S ALL TALK FERTILITY WEBINARS ARE BACK!

However we wouldn’t want you to wait almost a year for such important information and advice from the world of fertility. Which is why we are going to be relaunching our webinar series “Let’s all Talk Fertility” from September 2023!  The 12 part fortnightly series will see the most popular and important topics discussed, with some top industry professionals.

The webinars will be held at lunchtime, so you can either join us live and ask your all important questions, or catch up in your own time via our portal.  We are currently working on the line up, and will be delighted to share the details across our social media when it’s all firmed up.  For info and ticket sales, make sure you’re following us @thefertilityshow

PODCAST NEWS!

Even more exciting, we are now in a position to announce our up and coming podcast!  After the huge success of our Let’s all Talk Lounge at this year’s Fertility Show, many of you have asked if the talks would be available to listen to again.  Well you asked, and we listened.

As of September you will be able to hear all the content from the Lounge in a handy podcast format.  For those of you who didn’t make the Show, The Let’s all Talk Fertility Lounge featured some wonderful IVF patients and advocates from across the world of fertility.  These fantastic people shared their own fertility experiences, be that coping with loss, their experience of IVF treatment, donor conception, adoption, or solo parenting.  People such as Notafictional Mum, Pippa Vosper, Sophie: The Infertile Midwife, Amber Izzo, Alice Rose, to name a very few.  They were all so open, honest, and inspirational.

Keep an eye out for the podcast coming soon, over on wherever you get your podcasts from.

THIS MONTH’S Q&A IS… WITH ME!

I am proud to be a big part of The Fertility Show, both as a host and also as their Content Director.  I was therefore delighted to answer these questions asked of me by the MD of The Fertility Show, Laura Biggs...

What are you most proud of since joining the team?

I am delighted to see both The Fertility Show and also the Let’s all Talk webinars go from strength to strength. I first visited the Show as a fertility patient, lost and totally unaware of what to do about our situation.  Just by being around the clinics and realising all the options helped us to focus our mind and strategy.  Now, eight years on, and (in my opinion) The Fertility Show has vastly improved.  The holistic side of things has really taken off.  We understand and recognise how important community is on this bumpy road, which is why the Parla Wellbeing Workshops were so wonderful, for people to check out and find a safe space, away from all the noise.  The Let’s all Talk Fertility Lounge was also a great place for people to hear some inspirational real life stories and lived experiences.  The seminars have also improved over time, seeing the death of the power point presentations and instead being led by a host asking questions to some fantastic experts.

Why would you suggest people come to the Show and join our webinars?
With regards The Fertility Show, where else will you find so much knowledge and information in one place, from the best in the business?  The expertise is phenomenal.  It would take you weeks and months to visit all these incredible people if you were to do it all separately - plus it would cost you thousands.  Then there are the Let’s all Talk webinars.  Again, to be able to ask your question to the calibre of people we get on our channel would be almost impossible.  Plus to watch at home (or wherever you want to watch!) in your own time is also brilliant.  Be that live (to ask your questions anonymously) or on playback, the content is there for you whenever you need it.

What are you looking forward to / excited about for the year ahead?
The start of September sees some big things happening.  Firstly our webinars are back (see above for why they are so great) Plus we shall be pulling together our ideas for next year’s Fertility Show.  But the thing I am most looking forward to, I have to say, is the launch of our podcast.  After hosting the Let’s all Talk Lounge at The Fertility Show this year, I agreed with those of you who wished they could watch or listen to the conversations back again.  So I am currently working on making it all into a podcast.  I haven’t finished listening back yet, but from what I’ve heard so far, it’s such an important listen.  From Pippa Vosper telling her story of her son, Axel, who she prematurely gave birth to and who died in front of her, to Not a Fictional Mum reading an extract of her book about adopting her son and about her own experience in foster care.  From donor conception, solo parenting and loss, each and every person on the panel was so open, raw and honest for the benefit of others.  They are amazing.  It’s a must listen.

UNTIL NEXT TIME…

Our mission is, and always has been, to make sure that people embarking on a new or ongoing fertility journey get the most accurate advice, support and information around.  I hope we have gone some way to doing that for you this year so far.

Here’s to more from September!  Until then, have a great summer.

Sophie
