Meet the Clinic: Newlife IVF Greece

Welcome to Meet the Clinic! In this session, we will be introducing you to Newlife, one of the leading IVF clinics in Greece. They offer a comprehensive range of fertility investigations and treatments, including their highly successful egg donation program. For this conversation I spoke to Dr Anthi Stamkopoulou, Obstetrician - Gynaecologist and Infertility Specialist at Newlife Greece.

The clinic has been in operation since 2010, serving patients from across the world and, whom they offer a wide range of treatments and investigations for fertility issues. With nearly 14 years of experience, they perform around 1800 treatment cycles per year. The clinic prides itself on being empathetic and highly experienced, with their motto being "Making Hope Happen."

Easy Access to Treatment:

The clinic has a dedicated international department that handles patient inquiries. Patients can send an email to initiate the process. The engagement team will then communicate with them, providing a medical questionnaire to gather necessary information about their medical history and previous treatments. A video consultation will then be arranged, to discuss the individual case and develop a personalised treatment plan. The clinic also provides assistance with accommodation and can start stimulation in the patient's home country before the final steps of the treatment in Greece. "To tell the truth, it's very easy.” says Dr Stamkopoulou. “We have a very dedicated international department. The first thing that patients need to do is just to communicate with us and we take it from there.”

Convenient Location and Accommodation:

Newlife is located in Thessaloniki, a city in northern Greece. Thessaloniki has direct flights from the UK then the clinic is a five-minute taxi ride from the airport. Thessaloniki has a beautiful sea coast, making it an attractive destination for patients if you wanted to combine treatment with a holiday! Plus there are plenty of accommodation options, including hotels and Airbnbs, recommended by the clinic's coordinators.

Cost Comparison:

The overall costs of treatment at Newlife IVF Greece is thought to be lower compared to the UK. Although Dr Anthi didn’t give me a direct sum, the clinic say they are transparent about the costs, and provide detailed information to patients during the consultation and in the contract. Once quoted, there are no hidden costs, ensuring patients have a clear understanding of the expenses involved from the start.

Comprehensive Support:

Dr Anthi Stamkopoulou loved to talk about the support Newlife commits to their patients throughout their treatment journey; “Each patient is assigned a coordinator who will be their main point of contact. The coordinator will have a deep understanding of the patient's history, needs, and preferences, ensuring personalised care and support” she explains. Plus the clinic's team, including midwives, biologists, nurses, and doctors, are always available to address any concerns or questions that may arise during the treatment process; "One of our coordinators is next to them constantly, either by email, by phone call, by a video call. We are here. And when they are here, the only thing that they want to do is to be here for the scans, the ultrasounds. The rest of the day they can have the vacations!” Anthi explains.

Egg Donation Program:

Newlife takes pride in its egg donation program. The clinic only use fresh eggs from their donors, who are only aged up to 30 years old. This results in higher success rates. They offer both anonymous and non-anonymous options for patients, and donors undergo extensive testing, including karyotype analysis, to ensure their suitability.

Sperm Donation:

For patients in need of sperm donation, Newlife collaborates with European sperm banks. Patients can choose from a range of options and receive guidance to select the right sperm for their treatment. "If somebody needs sperm, we can ship the sperm from there. We do not have a sperm bank in-house but this way is easy and safe” says Dr Stamkopoulou.

Personalised Care and Trust:

Newlife IVF Greece believes in building trust with their patients; “We see the patients as our mother, our sister” explains Dr Anthi “ and so we try to give our best, in order to make their dream come true.”
